Admission
Admission to the First year Diploma Course is done strictly on the basis of marks scored in the SSLC examination as per the reservation policy of the Government of Tamilnadu for BC, MBC, SC, SC(A) & ST.
Direct admission to the second year of the course based on the HSC/ITI marks and as per the percentage ordered by the Government is also made from those who have passed the Higher Secondary Course (Academic and Vocational) and ITI.
Qualifying Examination
A pass in the 10th Standard (SSLC) or any other equivalent qualification.
Age Limit : No age limit.

Regular Diploma Courses
Selection of eligible candidates for the courses in the Polytechnic Colleges and Special Institutions will be made based on the total marks secured in the qualifying examination and the ranking will be done in the order of total marks secured by the candidates in the SSLC / Equivalent examination following communal reservation. In respect of candidates whose maximum marks in the qualifying examination more than 500 as per scheme, the maximum marks shall be reduced to a base of 500 and rank arrived at along with other candidates.

Part Time Courses – Eligibility
A pass in SSLC Examination (or) Equivalent /. SSLC + ITI /SSLC+ Experience / SS LC + ITI Experience.
Note: Weightage of Marks will be given for the service period inthe relevant Engineering field.
Candidates should have been employed within a distance of 90 Km., from the Institution to which applicant seeks admission within Tamil Nadu.
MODE OF SELECTION – Part Time Courses
- The marks secured in X Standard qualifying examination shall b e reduced to a base of 80 Marks;
- Weightage be given for every completed year of service after passing the qualification with a maximum of 20 marks in the following manner. (a) For every completed year ‑ 4 Marks. Selection shall be made as per ranking based on the total Marks secured in items (i) and (ii) above (80 + 20 = 100) (Subject to reservation as per Government orders).
- Minimum of two years full time work experience in a registered Firm / Company / Industry / Educational and/ Government Autonomous Organizations on the relevant field on which admission is sought. [OR]
